Dandelion Animal Cookiesfeatured

These homemade cookies are marvelous for the entire family

Horses, dogs, bulls, buffalo, and kids of all ages!

Please source pure ingredients from your garden, local farmer, farmer’s market, or a regenerative business contributing to the earth’s ecological well-being.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup flour (oat, barley, or rye; you can also add in some fresh ground flaxseed meal)
  • 1 cup freshly grated carrots (apples or turnips are delectable too)
  • A handful of fresh dandelion greens and their yellow flowers (yarrow, rose hips, calendula and echinacea are bountifully beneficial options as well)
  • 1/2 cup molasses (highly rich in minerals and iron)
  • 3/4 cups water

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 300 °F
  • Grease or line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  • Combine all ingredients in a large bowl and mix well. You want the consistency of a “thick dough.”
  • Add a little more flour/oats if it’s too sticky or a little more water if it’s too dry.
  • Place heaping tablespoons of dough half an inch apart on the cookie sheet. Feel free to make treats a bit bigger or smaller, depending on your preference and who will be enjoying them! Adjust baking time if needed.
  • Bake cookies for about 25 minutes or until gently crisp.
  • Cool completely.
  • Enjoy!

This recipe was inspired by the book Do Unto Animals. Wonderfully written by Tracey Stewart from the Farm Sanctuary and majestically illustrated by Liesel Ashlock.
