The sacred opening:
When Melissa reached out to ask if I’d meet Caliber, she shared that he had just bitten her and tried to do it again. She was feeling like a treat dispenser, and that their connection was fading. Melissa had gotten Caliber eight months earlier and was now at a loss, and it broke her heart because she loved him so much.
As I drove through the desert to meet the pair, an image of Caliber appeared in my mind: He reared up, front hooves high in the sky, mane wild in the wind—
“Well, hello, Caliber! So, this is you!” I said, smiling at his spirit. “I see you.”
When I arrived and met Caliber in the flesh, guess what he did in the arena? He reared up in precisely the same silhouette!
“I’ve never seen him do that!” Melissa gasped.
“He’s got some stallion in him!” I laughed.
Melissa confirmed that Caliber had been gelded late in life.
I invited Caliber to walk at liberty. “I am here to listen,” I said. “I am here for you.”
Now, some believe horses don’t speak—but they most certainly do! A horse speaks if you possess the willingness and openness to listen—not just to their biology and physiology, but to their heart, their spirit, their mind. Telepathy is the universal language of energy and light. It is our first language, and we all have the innate ability to communicate soul-to-soul because we are made of spirit ✨
Caliber shared his journey—how others had labeled him “too much horse” and reprimanded his fire. But he was only being himself. Caliber communicated his needs, requests, and desires. He expressed that he deeply cares for Melissa and wanted the relationship to work out as much as she did. They just needed to find their dance together.
Caliber acknowledged how kindred he and Melissa are and that they are here to help one another grow on an embodied soul level. Caliber also shared other parts of himself: the silly, curious Caliber, the sweet, sensitive Caliber.

As I stepped back to give them space to commune, Melissa tuned in. Caliber transmitted; Melissa received. Her pen moved, capturing the light language as it touched the page.
“I still will never forget the letter I wrote to myself from him. The biggest part that sticks out to me still to this day was when he said to never give up on him. And I won’t. Ever.”
